Happy October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Let’s stitch and honor all our loved ones affected by breast cancer.
The self-finishing kit includes everything except the threads (support your local needlepoint shop!): water-resistant pouch, hand-painted zodiac canvas, adjustable cuff, mini case (that can double as a jewelry travel pouch) with needle/snag nab-it/threader/crystal, seam ripper, and glue.
About the Crystal
The double-terminated hexagon is known to be the shape of balance. Beyond its structural and geometric beauty, the opposing points of the crystal work synergistically, simultaneously receiving and emitting energy. Furthermore, I like to think one point draws in the positive energy, while the other point expels the negative energy, serving as a talisman to find your daily balance and positivity.

Tips
Basketweave Stitch is a great beginner stitch and works perfectly for this project. Haute Energy’s favorite threads are Silk Lamé Braid for a little shimmer and Petite Very Velvet is also a joy to stitch. You’ll need two packs for the background color and one pack for the zodiac detail. When selecting your two colors, keep in mind the bolder contrast the better. The two black-outlined rows can be your chosen stitch, or you may try a more advanced binding stitch along the two long ends. The painted canvas is sized accordingly to accommodate the cuff size. For extra contrast and pop, you can use the zodiac detail threads for the edge stitch or continue the background thread. The crystal should be added last, and a loop sewn three times through the same holes is best to secure in the middle of the canvas (center location is marked by a black dot between the two zodiac signs). For additional semi-precious crystal options, please visit www.haute-energy.com. Once the canvas is complete, trim and leave enough canvas to sew length together that will also serve as backing. Please leave four rows at the width ends that will fit within the cuff ends. Gluing in segments of thirds will be best and don’t be shy about molding canvas while adhering. Once complete, hold with hair bands to dry.
